Linton School Camping Trip The Line Up.

This was just outside the school gates. We were heading for a 4 day camping trip, in the general direction of Hawes. Here we are, all lined up, and certainly looking the part. I think the little lad at the front is Gerald Coe.
I am second from the end, with my stripey T Shirt on. We had our own clothes generally, but sometimes clothing was issued, paid for by the LA. We did not have much, we didn't need much, everything was sent away to the "Lakeland Laundry" in Kendal I think to be cleaned, in lage wicker baskets.. I think that wet bedding sheets from the previous nights bed wetting was washed in the 'Enuretic' room. This was a little sad really, anyone labelled 'enuretic' was stigmatised. They had to form a line with their soddon sheets in hand, and they were cleaned on site. These unfortunates had to have what was called an 'enuretic' sheet placed on top of the mattress. I have noticed that is some hotels I stayed while on business, that todays modern equivalent took the shape of a 'plasticised sheet', I would instantly remove these as they caused sweat, and were impossible for me to sleep on. No choice at Linton mind. The enuretic sheets at Linton were akin to Dunlop rubber slabs! My two main chums while I was at Linton were Alan Waller, with whom I later lived with (NO NOT in the 'modern', liberal sense!) and Colin Staples, they are not on this shot, so may have already left the school, I cannot imagine that they were not involved with the camping club. I may have the date wrong; it could have been later in 1964. Mr Williams must have taken this shot, possibly soon after we set off out of the school gates.
