SCHOOLCHILDREN at Linton Camp received an unexpected visitor when a glider pilot was forced to land on its playing fields. Sgt Arthur Gough, from RAF Andover, had been flying for seven hours when loss of lift and bad visibility over the Pennines caused his unscheduled stop. Fortunately he escaped unhurt and the youngsters were thrilled to get a close-up look at his glider.
